my aviator did the same thing, couldnt shift into park and i had no brake lights, its ford precaution to not drive the car with out brakeslights i guess. we replaced the brake light switch and it solved the problem only costed $65. but its better than not having brakelights and a gear shifter stuck in park. lincoln was going to charge us for a new gear shifter which is quite spendy, all they want is your money. the brake swith is located behind the brake pedal easy to instal and replace.
