I had the same problem on my 1994 E420. Easy fix (just unplug old and plug in new) only problem was that I also had a throttle body failure at the same time (common) causing the car to stumble on accel.

I've had the same issue. So far, the driver's side hasn't broken! Check Engine light is typical; turns out to be Air Flow Meter; $7-800 at dealer; I bought one on Amazon.com for $65. Otherwise, love the car! Good Luck!
